  • 125 g cold butter, cubed
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 apples (for compote), peeled and chopped
  • 2 apples (for topping), thinly sliced
  • Sugar, vanilla extract or cinnamon (optional)
  • Apricot jam (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pâte sucrée by mixing flour, powdered sugar, and salt in a food processor. Add cold butter until crumbly; then add egg and pulse just until combined. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and roll out the dough to fit a tart pan. Bake for about 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Make the apple compote by cooking chopped apples with butter and sugar for about 10 minutes until tender.
  4. Spread the compote over the baked crust, layer thinly sliced apples on top, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with sugar. Bake again for 25-30 minutes until apples are caramelized.
  5. Optionally brush with warmed apricot jam for shine.
