Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and confectioners' sugar until fluffy. Mix in peppermint extract.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually combine this dry mixture with the butter mixture until fully integrated.
  3. Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll chilled dough into 1-inch balls and place them on lined baking sheets.
  5. Bake for 9–11 minutes until lightly browned at the bottoms.
  6. After cooling, prepare the frosting by beating together softened butter, confectioners' sugar, milk, peppermint extract, and optional food coloring until smooth.
