Description

Indulge in the spooky spirit of Halloween with these Vampire Bite Halloween Cupcakes: A Spooky Delight with a Deliciously Sinister Twist. These visually striking cupcakes feature a moist red velvet base, overflowing with a creamy red filling that resembles blood, all topped off with a pale buttercream frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring (gel-based)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup red velvet cake crumbs (from the cupcake centers)
  • 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 12 tbsp red food coloring (for a vibrant, glossy red hue)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 34 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 23 tbsp milk or heavy cream
  • A few drops of ivory or peach food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Candy fangs or small dots of red vegan gelatin (for puncture marks)
  • Red syrup or edible red gel (for 'blood' drips)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and red food coloring.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with buttermilk until just combined. Stir in baking soda mixed with vinegar.
  4. Fill muffin cups two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  5. For the creamy filling, mix red velvet cake crumbs with sweetened condensed milk and melted butter, adding food coloring for vibrancy.
  6. Hollow out cooled cupcakes and fill each center with the creamy mixture.
  7. Make buttercream by beating softened butter and gradually adding powdered sugar along with milk and food coloring for desired consistency.
  8. Frost each cupcake smoothly and decorate with candy fangs and edible gel for the 'blood' effect.
